The country where Nelson Mandela comes from: An introduction to South African history
Join Global Certificate students and other clubs for an interactive presentation on a brief history of South Africa and the legacy of Apartheid. Participants will learn about important historical events in South Africa, the impact they have had on current issues within South Africa and cultural characteristics of the very diverse country. Nhlanhla Mpofu will be leading the presentation. Nhlanhla is a Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Fellow for Zulu Language in the African Studies Department at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
In preperation for the event students are asked to prepare by watching videos on the Zulu nation and begin working on provided materials to have some background on the Zulu nation. Mrs. Dianich (Global Mentor) will be hosting a viewing of these films after school on Tuesday March 20th.
